Notes from class on Sutra with Dr. Dunya.

Notes: These are a few note pages from a class on sutra taught by Dr. Dunya. Sutra is a term used in fiqh or Islamic jurisprudence to describe an item that a person puts in front of them when they are praying to prevent another person from interrupting their prayer. Umi also held onto her cassette tape recording of the class, a snippet from which you can hear in the audio montage in this collection named Class. The "Karima” in that note is Umi's friend and mentor, Kareemah Abdul-Kareem. Kareemah says she and Umi were the most consistent of Dr. Dunya's students, even travelling from New York City to New Jersey to continue studying with him, as described in the video clip called Dr. Dunya.
