Notes: Umi studied Arabic because she became Muslim and she wanted to understand religious texts. This language class does not seem geared for that, but I see her taking it because she loved language and communicating with people. In junior high school, she aspired to be a UN interpreter.In college, she studied Swahili and graduated with a double major in Spanish and social studies.
