The Hajar Paradigm uses the story of Hajar or Hagar, wife of Abraham, to analyze the challenges contemporary women face. She begins her lecture by saying she is indebted to Umi's good friend and mentor, Aliyah Abdul-Karim, for the idea. The audio includes Q&A with audience members, including community activist and leader, Aisha Al-Adawiya; the late holistic health expert, Rasheeda Abdul Hakeem; and Imam Talib Abdur-Rashid of the Mosque of Islamic Brotherhood.
