Dawah Luncheon

Dawah Luncheon

Planning notes from M.E.A.R.C. Dawah Luncheon.

Notes: These luncheons were for dawah meaning to call people to Islam. About 10 women would be invited to a member' s home for presentations given by M.E.A.R.C. members, which included handouts (see directions to “pass out pictures”) and Black Power/Black Arts movement culture (see The Last Poets album). There were also the logistics to discuss, such as whether to make the congregational prayer in shifts rather than as one group (is this about space or to avoid keeping guests unattended?) and like all good organization event planners, the food came last.
