Notes: This is from a collection of report cards in the archive. Umi performed well in elementary school and junior high school — there is a whole slew of honor roll certificates! However, here, I am most interested in her father's commentary and what it implies about the times it was written in and their racial dynamics and how that might have shaped what he felt he needed to say. It was also the only report card I have found so far that he commented on.
"Mrs. Weeks and I try to see to it that Audrey is provided in two respects for proper well-being: (1) Good source material for reference and further study, (2) An informative and wholesome environment."
