Notes: Before there were selfies, Tik Tok, and the like, there was your cousin. Umi and Akua née, Brenda, were first cousins — their fathers were brothers. Despite the distance between Queens and the Bronx, where Akua grew up, their families spent a lot of time together and the two cousins, of the same age, were very close to each other their whole lives.
